Many people wonder what Reiki is or have never heard of it. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words "Rei", which means "God's wisdom" or "Higher Power" and "Ki" means "universal life force.”
So Reiki in essence is spiritually guided life force energy. If your "life force energy" is low you could feel sick or stressed, and if it is high you are more likely to feel happy and healthy.
What does a Reiki session feel like? Most people report a sense of relaxation like they have never felt before, a lightness of their body, tingling throughout their bodies, a sense of peace and security. Some people get so relaxed that they fall asleep or they feel a deep sense of a meditative state. There are no right or wrong ways to feel; it's all based on one's personal experience.
Reiki is a simple, safe and natural method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. A session is done on a massage table fully clothed. Reiki is offered through a light non-invasive touch placed on or over a series of locations on the body that should never be intrusive or inappropriate and no pressure should be applied.
Reiki can be used in conjunction with other therapeutic techniques to promote wellness and relieve side effects. Everyone can benefit from Reiki. Since Reiki is the most natural way of healing there are no contraindications for having a session.
One of the greatest Reiki healing health benefits is stress reduction and relaxation, which triggers the body’s natural healing abilities (immune system), aids in better sleep and improves and maintains health.
Reiki can also help with the following:
• release blockages, things you may be holding onto from the past that are preventing you moving forward in life
• the recovery from surgery and long-term illness
• aids in grief recovery, cleans and clears emotions from being so draining and offers perspective
• weight loss (by bringing your body to a natural state of balance energetically, emotionally)

• helps relieve pain from migraines, arthritis, sciatica, and hormonal changes

Everyone has a different experience during a Reiki session. The three main ways Reiki can help are on an emotional, mental and spiritual level.

How many sessions are needed to feel the full effects of Reiki? On average a series of four sessions are recommended.
